Let's Get Back to Oslo

Hey everyone! Long time no see! I am thriving over here in Norway (Most of the time). Missing my family and friends like crazy, but otherwise I keep myself busy. I haven’t posted for a few week because the NLC class was prepping for our Agderlørdag. Agder is the name of our school, and lørdag is Saturday in Norwegian. So Agderlørdag is when one of the classes in our school entertains the rest of the students and staff for one Saturday evening. It’s super fun, but pretty stressful when it is your classes turn. Anyways! We had ours last night, the 11th of December. It went super well, but I will tell you more once I’ve gotten pictures and stuff.

But for now, let’s talk about the rest of my Oslo trip from a few weeks ago! I am actually going to attach our itinerary so you can follow along with the day if you want haha. It is in Norwegian though so good luck 😂.

My lovely friends

So Thursday was our first full day there, and it also happened to be thanksgiving. The first see pictures up there are from right away in the morning on Thursday. Our whole class met at the new Munch museum around 10am. Marlene, Helena, and I got up early to go get coffee and explore a little. The building was super tall and had an amazing view from the top. Inside were some really interesting, interactive visits. Here is some artwork from Munch and another woman who also has art in the Munch museum.

This is the view from the top of the building!

There was a station where you could trace over some of Munch’s prints.

So overall I really liked the Munch museum. Other people didn’t like it so much, so it just depends on how much you like museums and what kind of art you are into. But I would highly suggest it if you are in Oslo. Pretty funky fresh.

After that we were released into the wild and told to meet with the art class (They were also in Oslo at the same time as us, but we mostly did separate things) at a karaoke bar later that afternoon. A little group of us stopped by a cafe, did a little thrift shopping, and stopped into H&M before making our way to the bar. We had our own little room to sing. And surprise surprise, Marianne made me sing the first song. It was can you feel the love tonight from the lion king 😂. So that was super awkward, but ultimately fun haha. After a few more hours of awkward karaoke moments, we went to another play at a nearby theatre. It a kids play so thankfully I was able to understand most of the simple language.

Later that night my friends Tuva and Angelica brought me to a concert at a little venue heavy. It was an amazing indie rock band that I had never heard of but now listen to all the time. Here are some pictures.

This is the cutest picture ever!!! My family set a place at the thanksgiving table for me back at home 🥺💗!

We got home quite late and I slept hard.

Day 3 of our trip was jam packed. We started early at the library downtown which I have already spent a lot of time at. After that we saw the the Norwegian Parliament, Oslo City Hall, and the Nobel peace price museum. It was a lot of listening to Norwegian tour guides, but I think I actually learned a lot! Here’s some pictures from that day along with the days itinerary.

An interesting portrait of the queen of Norway.

The next day we all got up and boarded a bus back to Kristiansand. It was a great visit. Okay that’s it for now! I’ll be back soon with some actual current events haha.

Ta ta for now!

  3. Thanks for sharing the Oslo trip Annika! I am sure you are missing all your family and friends but that was cool that your parents had a place for you at the Thanksgiving table. I think of you often and look forward to hearing all about it in person someday! Merry Christmas.
